Mission

One argument, told in essays.

A single claim about money, scarcity, and the state — worked out in public, one essay at a time.

— a new vantage point

01 The claim

Left alone, prices fall. Real scarcity is the rare exception, not the rule — and no statute can conjure it into being. Everything here follows from that one line.

02 How to read it

Start at the thesis. Each essay stands on its own but leans on that first argument and sharpens it. Read in any order — return to the thesis when you lose the thread. New essays land on a rolling basis, and a way to follow them is coming.

03 How it’s funded

No ads, no sponsors, no paywall, no investor to please. Free to read, and paid for by the readers it is written for — in bitcoin. A way to support it is coming.

Lineage

The name comes from a line of Jeff Booth’s. “The natural state of a free market is deflation” is his sentence. His book The Price of Tomorrow argues that technology drives prices relentlessly down, and that we do real harm trying to prop them up. The hard part is seeing it. That’s what these essays are for.

The readings and the conclusions are mine. Jeff didn’t write them, hasn’t reviewed them, and shouldn’t be held to wherever they end up.

His own work is at jeffreybooth.com.
